This boy used 3D printing to shake your hand!

Leon McCarthy is like your average 12 year old. He loves life and probably gets into trouble! Leon unfortunately was born with a condition called “amniotic band syndrome” which made one hand short on fingers! Dad did not approve.

So his dad searched and searched until he found RoboHand, an open source prosthetic hand creation project by enthusiasts Ivan Owen and Richard Van As, who already had a history of lending a hand to kids.

Using Leon’s McCarthy’s school 3D printer and with a little bit of prayer they actually managed to DIY a prosthetic hand! Alhamdulillah! Does it work though? See for yourself:

By the way if you have an idea to print a 3D hand you could check out the whole project at Thingverse.
