Facebook & Your Health: Best friends or unhappy couple?

Facebook has seen many critics over the years. With jilted love affairs and divorces it seems the over 1,000,000,000 people using this platform may not be so happy after all. And society seems to be taking notice.

Facebook has now confirmed that there is a drop in teenagers using their platform. While it may seem that its not cool enough for a changing generation, serious issues like cyber bullying are part of the reason.

And there is the aspect of social health that is also a concern. Many of us ‘support’ causes on Facebook as it makes us feel part of the programme. Guess what? It ain’t enough. “Our research shows that if people are able to declare support for a charity publicly in social media it can actually make them less likely to donate to the cause later on.” says PhD student Kirk Kristofferson. He goes on to say that by Liking we are getting into the habit of less giving! Can I get my ‘Likes’ back though?

Even single women are being advised off Facebook! Is this some sort of conspiracy on the world’s leading platform? Nah. If you abuse anything it finally burns you out. Today it’s Facebok tomorrow its Twitter. Its the attitude that needs changing. Parents, you have a lot of work to do!
